2008 Round Up
As the 2008 wedding season comes to an end, Emma and I have been reflecting on what we want our second year to become.
When we ventured out from portrait photography and into wedding photography, I knew it would be hard, but it would also be worth it. This past year has been so awesome. I cannot even begin to explain how seriously blessed I feel to be able to take this hobby and turn it into a business. The success of this first official year in wedding photography would never have happened if not for the support of all my premiere couples who allowed us to capture their big day for them.
Aside from these great couples, I have to thank my wife who was the source of all this. She identified potential, did all the legwork necessary, built a brand, and held my hand as we took this big leap of faith. So far it was a leap worth taking.
However, now that we've taken on this new venture (wedding photography), it's made us that much more busy! Emma and I pride ourselves in offering a very personalized wedding-photography experience, which is why we decided to take only 16 weddings in 2009.
Why so few? We love being able to talk to couples, get to know our brides, and really spend time finding out what they want and don't like. So, having only a certain number of slots available each year, we can give you more attention and a higher-quality product than if we were to book weddings every weekend. Besides, I still want to be able to uphold 2-3 week turn around for proofs...oh, and family time is very important to me. Balancing family, work, and our business is my top priority.
So, just a note to future couples out there, please try to inquire as early as possible. I wouldn't want to miss out on an opportunity to work with you and document your big day. (To be extremely transparent, we're already at about 60% capacity and booking season has just begun.)
To all the couples, families, and individuals we worked with in 2008---thank you again. We couldn't have done it without you!
Much love,
D-Saloms
